Cargo carrier Hong Kong Cargo Airlines has launched a new intercontinental e-commerce service from Hong Kong International Airport to London Stansted Airport.

The first flight, RH364, took place on 4 February. The route will utilise an Airbus A330-200 freighter, Hong Kong Air Cargo said in a press release.

The new e-commerce route to London Stansted Airport is part of Hong Kong Air Cargo's plan to capitalise on the demand for online shopping and cross-border trade between China and Europe.

As Hong Kong is a global centre for air cargo logistics and a gateway for goods to and from the mainland, the route is expected to boost economic cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China and Europe.

"We are delighted to launch our new e-commerce service to London Stansted, which is a major milestone in our international expansion plans for 2024," said Captain Hung Lap-fook, President and Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Cargo Airlines.

"This route will provide our customers with more choice and flexibility to fulfil their air cargo logistics needs and create more value and opportunities for our stakeholders and partners."

Established in 2017, Hong Kong Cargo Airlines has a fleet of six all-cargo aircraft, including five a330-200f and one wet-lease A330-300P2F.

The airline's route network covers Asia, Europe and the Middle East. It offers a variety of charter and scheduled flights to destinations including Almaty, Bangkok, Chennai, Delhi, Dubai, Hanoi, Istanbul, Manila, Milan, Osaka, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei and London.

In October this year, Hong Kong Cargo Airlines expanded into Europe for the first time, launching a new route to Italy to cater for e-commerce.
